Aesthetica Short Film Festival (ASFF) began in York in 2011, the same year as Greenhorn. It has grown into one of the UK’s largest short film festivals. Screenings are held in venues across the historic city, many of them unusual.

What it programmes

ASFF has a large number of genre categories, covering drama, comedy, documentary, animation, thriller, music video, artists’ film, dance and more. That makes it easier than at many festivals to find a category that fits your film.

Industry

The festival runs masterclasses, talks and networking sessions alongside the screenings, which makes it valuable for early-career filmmakers.

Qualifying

ASFF is BAFTA-qualifying for specific awards. Check the official site for the current rules.

Dates, rules and award-qualifying status change every year. Check the official site before you submit.
